About Us

Welcome

Welcome to the Gleneagles Residents’ Association website, representing all residents in the Gleneagles and Grovelands areas.  We are an active organisation, lobbying Hailsham Town Council, Wealden District Council and East Sussex County Council on behalf of our members to achieve the following aims and objectives:

  • To represent and promote the interests of all residents living in our area;
  • To seek to improve conditions for residents;
  • To work in partnership with local authorities and other agencies to secure our aims;
  • To monitor the general environment to ensure standards of upkeep and deal with any shortcomings by various bodies;
  • To monitor the usage of Hailsham Country Park and to ensure that it remains as a community facility and retains its current character;
  • To encourage the uptake of Neighbourhood Watch to cover the whole of our area;
  • To liaise regularly with Sussex Police on crime and anti-social behaviour issues.

Committee

steveStephen Potts – Chairman

Born in Manchester and educated at Urmston Grammar School. I left school in 1964 to join the Royal Navy where I undertook a 5 year apprenticeship as an electronic engineer. During my 16 years in the Navy I served in the Far East, Caribbean, Scandinavia, the US and throughout Europe with Nato. I left the Navy in 1980 and joined Thorn EMI Electronics as a trials engineer designing and installing specialist sonar equipment for use on ships and submarines before moving into project management and business development. I moved to Hailsham in 1988 to become General Manager of Gearing & Watson Electronics Ltd and then MD in 1990. The company was sold in 2005 to Data Physics Corporation, a US high-tech company, but I remained as the UK MD until 2014 when the entire company was sold to a US based venture capitalist and I then retired. I have lived in the Gleneagles area since 2012 with my wife, Patricia.

Andrew Dixon – Vice Chairman

I grew up in Hampshire and moved to Hailsham some 21 years ago. I worked in the Financial Sector for 35 years before taking early retirement. Now I work part time for a well known local company . Married to Sue, we have 2 grown up daughters & 4 grandchildren plus Hermione, known as Bertie our staffie. When not out walking the dog I keenly follow my home town Southampton and try to get to as many ‘home’ matches as possible. I have been involved with the Residents Association for the last 3 years.

In 2013 I moved from Southampton to Hailsham with my family. I’m married and have two teenage sons and a dog!  In the past I have worked in customer service within the financial services industry.  In my spare time I help with our local cricket club and enjoy walking and training my dog.

After growing up in Surrey I moved to Hailsham with my husband and 2 children in 2004.  I’m an active member of Hailsham Parish Church where I am the administrator and I manage Hailsham foodbank.  I enjoy reading, walking, baking and photography in my spare time.
